WHO IS IOPSA GP ?

IOPSA GP is merely the Gauteng Province wing of IOP(SA) which is the Institute of Plumbing of South Africa.

IOPSA is the only vehichle by wich the consumers can lodge a complaint against member companies in the event of substandard work being delivered.

IOPSA is purely about standard of work and does not dictate the price on any item to its members. We are proud to say that complaints agaisnt member companies are the bare minimum. More than 95% of complaints received at our offices are against non members, in which case we can unfortunatley do nothing for the consumer.

The inportance of using only companies that are registered with the Institute of Plumbing can not be stressed enough. In South Africa we are ridden with fly by nights posing as qualified plumbers.

WHO IS IOP(SA) ?

The Institute of Plumbing SA was founded in 1989 by 14 plumbing companies. Today that figure has increased to well over 400 plumbing companies in Gauteng alone. These companies represent more than 2000 qualified lumbers and thouseands of semi skilled persons working in the plumbing industry.

The main aim of the Institute of Plumbing SA is to maintain standards in the industry by only using quality plumbing products and compliant plumbing installation work.

IOP(SA) is a permanently appointed member of SABS and JASWIC Technical Committees, both of whom are responsible to the plumbing industry and the consumer for approving SABS/SANS Codes of Practice for the manufacture of plumbing products and the Codes of Practice to meet the compliancy levels of plumbing installation work.

IOP(SA) continue to permanently represent South Africa at the World Plumbing Council in Geneva, a position that we have held for more than twelve years, and more recently the Institute of Plumbing SA was awarded member status of the Proudly South African promotion scheme.

IOP(SA) is permanently represented at the Construction CETA, referred to as the Construction Education and Training Authority, where the Institute has been appointed as the chairperson of the Standards Generating Body, representing plumber training in South Africa.
